Kim Hyun-joong is a South Korean entertainer, actor, and the leader and main rapper of the Korean boyband SS501. He portrays Baek Seung-jo (Naoki Irie) in Playful Kiss, the 2010 South Korean live-action adaption of the Itazura Na Kiss Manga. He received a "Male Popularity Award" at MBC Drama Awards for portraying Baek Seung-jo.

Kim Hyun-joong is also well known for his role as Yoon Ji-hoo in the 2009 Korean drama Boys Over Flowers, which is also a Korean drama adapted from a Japanese Manga. Kim Hyun-joong won several awards for his portrayal in Boys Over Flowers and considers it as his first big break in acting.
