Chapter 2 is the second chapter of the Itazura na Kiss, written by Kaoru Tada and published by Shueisha.

Plot

"... and don't talk to me at school."

Life at Irie's house seems great to Kotoko. However, Naoki is still being cold to her. While walking to school together, Naoki tells Kotoko that he doesn't care for her and that she should keep a distance from him, not wanting to create troubles for himself later on. When they get on a train, Kotoko gets touched by a pervert and she pleads for Naoki to turn around and save her. He does so, but, much to her dismay, does nothing and continues reading his book. When they get off the train, Kotoko yells at him for not even bothering to help her, but he only asks her whether she's "too conscious about herself", leaving her jaw dropped.

That morning, Naoki comes to Kotoko's classroom asking her to come to the school yard. He there tells her that they switched their lunch boxes and exclaims that the worst thing of all is that they attend the same school. Kotoko then, using an embarrassing childhood picture, blackmails Naoki into tutoring her on the next exam, saying she'll hand over the picture if she makes it into the top 100 scores among the students.

That night, as they study, the two of them get to know each other better, and Naoki's mother hands Kotoko a good luck charm for the test, telling her not to open it before the results are out. At school Kotoko seems to know most of the answers because Naoki gave her all the similar questions while they were studying.

"Thank you! I'm so happy!"

When the results are out, she doesn't bother to go and see her score, but goes to the top of the list to check whether Naoki's the first. Naoki, on the other hand, hurries to the bottom of the list to check if Kotoko made it to the top 100. He then bumps into Kotoko who congratulates him on getting the first place and he asks her whether she checked her results. She runs to the end of the paper and sees that she's ranked 100th, happily jumping around Naoki and thanking him. He reaches out his hand making Kotoko think he wants to shake hands, but in reality, he asks for his childhood picture to be given back. She gives it back to him and he tells her not to talk to him in school, only getting "Thank you Irie-kun!" shouted back at him.
